As a result of the tax the government provides Social Security Disability Insurance, which provides income supplements to people who a physically restricted in their ability to be employed because of a notable disability, usually a physical disability.
The initial process of filing for disability is relatively easy, but a high percentage of cases (above 50%) are initially denied and have to be appealed for a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. This process can be intimidating if you are representing yourself so many make a decision to hire an attorney to help them gather information and put forth their best possible case as to why they are disabled and meet one of the Social Security Administration’s listings.
